Jimmy Dilley (creative director of the Nightmare on 13th)
Nightmare on 13th has been frightening Utah for well over 30 years now at its iconic location on 1300 South in the dead heart of Salt Lake City. 2021 was an amazing season for the Nightmare on 13th, but 2022 is already looking to be our most extraordinary year yet!!!
Over the last few years, the Nightmare has been growing rapidly from having bigger and more elaborate scenes within the haunt, to new side attractions. This year that expansion continues with an all new “Nightmare Courtyard” section. This expanded gothic Halloween courtyard will offer tons of new experiences including; gift shops, ticket booths, photo ops and three, 5 min escape games so that our guests can add to the fun and horror of their visit.
Though big and exciting, the New “Nightmare Courtyard” section is small in comparison to what’s coming to the Inside of the Nightmare on 13th! 20 Years ago the Nightmare on 13th used to be named the Institute of Terror. After 911 we changed our name to the now Iconic Nightmare on 13th. …and now we are extremely excited to announce that “Institute of Terror” is back as an All New VIP haunted house!!!
What happens when you spend too much time in your Nightmares?? PURE MADNESS! An Insanely horrifying thunder storm is pounding outside the Institute of Terror. The storm has knocked the power out and the patients are now free, roaming about the dark corridors of this asylum.
These patients are not your normal patients, they all suffer a unique psychosis where they are terrorized by what they have seen in their dreams and the thunder storm is only making them crazier.
Whether you want to traverse the dark fantasy world of the Nightmare on 13th or even explore the insanity of the Institute of Terror, we can guarantee that you will leave with a Nightmare that you will never forget when you experience the Nightmare on 13th this year!!!
