The Haunted Hotel Disturbance
The Haunted Hotel first opened its doors over 30 years ago in the cavernous, dark, creepy basement of an over 120 year old a building in the heart of the Historic Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. Masterminded and operated by former film industry professionals, superior set design and scare-actor professionalism became synonymous with their reputation. The “Where Horror Films Come to Life” theme helped solidify the film industry reputation that is still prevalent. The Haunted Hotel is an ever evolving, yet consistent in high quality haunt.
And evolve they have! The Haunted Hotel moved up and out of the basement a few years ago, expanded from one maze to three mazes, added a large midway with live music and entertainment, light shows, roving scare-actors, virtual reality games, axe throwing, food trucks and a bar with spirited drinks. Renamed The Haunted Hotel Disturbance in Mission Valley, this new “haunt collective” attracts more guests than ever. Still evolving, you can expect to enjoy watching them continue to grow and stretch their rich imaginations for many more years to come in this exciting new location.
The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park is in one of the most unique settings in the country. The giant grove of twisted pines and gnarled oaks are ominously spooky on their own, but add in an unsettled spirit inhabited graveyard, freakishly haunted shadowy structures, big eye candy sets, a loaded full sized school aka “ghoul” bus, and relentless creepy characters lurking in the dark and you’ve got some seriously sinister surroundings.
Guests begin their experience with a 3,500 square foot maze, followed by the mile long trail of terror. The Haunted Trail utilizes the natural surroundings of the World Famous Balboa Park with customized sets and scenes built to maximize the trees, bushes and landscape of Marston Point. Taking full advantage of no ceiling restrictions, they can build bigger than life sets and giant characters that stop your heart. Some of the best sets were actually built by Mother Nature herself; nothing is creepier than the camouflage provided in nature, under the stars and moon on a crisp fall night.
